Crisis Resources

  • The Trevor Project: Online chat, call line, and text line for LGBTQ+ youth in crisis.
  • National Suicide Prevention Hotline: National hotline for Americans in crisis. Also available in Spanish and with TTY and video relay.
  • Trans Lifeline: Hotline for transgender people in crisis.
  • Crisis Text: Text hotline for people in crisis.

Local Resources

  • Gatlyn Dame Group: A Dayton organization for transgender and gender non conforming people and their allies. They have guides to help with transitioning, resources, events, and more.
  • Trans Ohio: An Ohio organization for transgender people. Also has financial help for legal name and gender changes.
  • Greater Dayton LGBT Center: A Dayton organization for LGBT people. They have resources, as well as support groups, events, and a list of other local organizations.
  • Montgomery County Public Health Department: General health resources as well as specific LGBTQ resources.
  • Equality Ohio: Legal help and resources for LGBTQ+ people living in Ohio.
  • Montgomery County ADAMHS: Resources and help for those with addictions and mental illness.

Sexual Health Resources

  • Planned Parenthood: Extensive LGBTQ+ inclusive sexual health education resources, including information on birth control, STIs, gender identity, and much more.
  • Scarleteen: LGBTQ+ and disability inclusive guides and information, aimed at teenagers and young adults.
  • Dr. Lindsey Doe:  Clinical sexologist and YouTube star Dr. Lindsey Doe’s video series “Sexplanations with Dr. Doe” has become increasingly popular amongst students and youth. The series aims to talk about all things sex — from sexual health, to healthy relationships, to understandings of sexuality — in a frank and honest way that can help viewers learn in an engaging, fun and nonthreatening environment. 

Advice and General Information

  • Transgender Teen Survival Guide: Advice and resources, including an extensive FAQ and transition basics posts, for and by transgender people. They take anonymous questions. 

Resources for Family of LGBTQ+ Youth

  • PFLAG: An organization for the families and friends of LGBTQ+ people. They have meetings, online resources, and articles on supporting your LGBTQ+ family.

Other Resources

  • It Gets Better Project: Providing inspiring stories and messages by LGBTQ+ adults and allies.
  • Daybreak Dayton: Help for homeless young adults aged 18-24. They also have a hotline.
  • I'm From Driftwood:  "I'm From Driftwood" is a 501( c)(3) nonprofit organization that collects and shares first-person lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) stories. The stories increase empathy, understanding, and acceptance while creating a sense of belonging and community.
