LGBTQ+ Community group

Program Overview

Dayton Children’s is partnering with Public Health–Dayton & Montgomery County to provide Visible & Resilient in Community and Self program for Q+ youth ages 13 - 18. 


Simultaneously, PFLAG (Parents, Family, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) will host a caregivers meeting.

What to Expect

Youth and Caregivers meet separately in the same building. Each group will have opportunity to engage in conversation, activities, snacks, and a topic that focuses on health, wellness, and well-being. Typically. each group will follow a format that includes but is not limited to:

  • introductions
  • open floor discussion
  • Visible & Resilient lesson plan 
  • highpoint of the week
  • support and resources offered


Please note that any 7th - 12th grader without a caregiver in attendance will need a consent signed by a caregiver in order to attend. Consent form can be found below

Connection, in this lesson plan, will be considered an essential piece to the many different types of relationships that we have and will experience in our lives. In specific: Upon personal reflection, I can identify and attend to the different components, present or not, in my relationships realizing that the other person may not view the relationship in the same way.
